Nick Lachey to Play 'Newlywed' in TV Pilot

Pilots

Nick Lachey to Play 'Newlywed' in TV Pilot
Actor-singer Nick Lachey, whose separation from Jessica Simpson was confirmed last week after months of tabloid speculation, will play a newly wed in a pilot for the WB reports MTVnews

The untitled project will be developed by Danny Jacobson, the co-creator and executive producer of "Mad About You," who described it as a "romantic comedy under a microscope."

Lachey is set to play a baseball star navigating a new marriage in a pilot for the WB network, spokesman Paul McGuire said Monday.

Lachey, the former star of MTV's "Newlyweds" is no stranger to the WB, having logged multiple guest shots last season on the network's drama series "Charmed."

"Nick is a huge talent with a major following and Danny is a brilliant, seasoned comedy writer," McGuire said. "We hope it's a good match." Shooting of the half-hour pilot will begin in April. The show will be considered for the network's fall 2006 lineup, McGuire said.

Along with acting, Nick has spent the past year recording his second solo album reports ABCnews

Shatner pitches early Star Trek show

Pilots

Shatner pitches early Star Trek show
Former Star Trek Captain William Shatner must have gotten a look at last weeks totals for the DVD and video game release of "Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith" (which brought in over $200 million) -- Sci-fi still has some legs out there!

Mr. Shatner says he wants to bring the cult sci-fi show back to TV - he's writing a pilot for a prequel show: Star Trek.
The actor, who played Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series, says he wants to bring the glory days back to the show and is working on a treatment that will pre-date the first episode.

He says, "I'm writing a couple of books on the adolescent Captain Kirk/Spock thing as a prequel. It's also an idea for CBS to use as the next series of Star Trek." If I worked at CBS I would put that one on a fast track.

I hope the treatment has room for a young Sulu (originally played by George Takei -- who came out of the closet last week) as he explores some of his own darker deep space.

The Jessica Simpson Pilot

Pilots

Simpson plays a character based on her real-life self named "Jessica SAMPSON" , who has an offscreen boyfriend named "Vic." Jessica lands a job as a correspondent for a morning show because she's tired of endlessly touring. The show is staffed by appropriately clichéd sitcom characters: there's a neuter/possibly gay Chandler type who pines after Jessica, a stuffy anchor in the Jim Dial/Murphy Brown mode, a plucky-but-still-hot-but-supposedly-not-as-hot-as-Jessica producer with a cute name (Halle).
