Rooney Mara, the star of David Fincher's upcoming Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, graces the cover of this month's Vogue with a profile by Contributing Editor Jonathan Van Meter.

It's approaching midnight, and the June sun is winking on the horizon, still hoping to conjure one last moment of spooky beauty for the good people of Stockholm. Rooney Mara, David Fincher, and I are walking home from a two-bottle-of-wine dinner at their favorite café, around the corner from Ingmar Bergman Plats. Both of them have been living in Sweden, on and off, since the previous summer, shooting one of the most anticipated movies in years: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. As we pass the Royal Dramatic Theatre, where Greta Garbo studied as a teenager, Mara points to the clock tower in Gamla Stan, silhouetted in the distance, and reminds Fincher that when it strikes twelve it will be exactly one year to the day since he first auditioned her to play the part of Lisbeth Salander, arguably the most coveted role for an actress since Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind (another film adaptation of a wildly popular book featuring a shrewd, complicated, difficult-to-love heroine capable of slaying a man).

"Really?" says Fincher. "A year ago tomorrow?" He shakes his head in disbelief and then fishes a vibrating phone out of his pocket: "Hello, Amy." It is the co-chairperson of Sony Pictures, Amy Pascal, the studio head who, if this movie takes off, will surely get credit for having greenlighted the first truly adult franchise to come out of Hollywood since the early seventies, when movies like The Exorcist--not Twilight--were winning the terrified hearts of audiences everywhere.

You've got to love Wendy Williams! She says it like she means it and now with her After Show, one can revel in her candid thoughts even more.

We had a chance to sit with Wendy for one of her after shows and it was good. Wendy was dishing on her guest that day, Simon Cowell and the ladies from Jerseylicious. She also revealed which Bond she'd love to be Bond Girl to.

BTW, Wendy how come I didn't get a taco? I'm coming back for my taco.

Bradley Cooper adds another starlet to his recent string of Hollywood hookups! Life & Style has exclusively learned that Bradley cozied up with recently single Scarlett Johansson at NYC hot spot Provocateur in the wee hours of Sept. 16. "Scarlett and Bradley arrived with a small group of friends, including model Cheyenne Tozzi, around 2 a.m," an eyewitness tells Life & Style. "While Bradley was flirty with Cheyenne initially, after some drinks he turned his attention to Scarlett. The duo were hand in hand and more than flirty by the end of the night!" While the VIP couple tried to maintain a low profile there, other club goers took notice of Bradley and Scarlett. "They were here with a group of friends and ordered champagne," a second eyewitness tells Life & Style. "The group was having a good time together."

While Scarlett's rep tells Life & Style the pair are "just friends and have been for years," it seems Bradley already had his eye on Scarlett. Not only did they play lovers in the 2009 hit He's Just Not That Into You, but their surprise romance also comes just one night after Bradley was spotted on the scene with Justin Timberlake and Scarlett at 1OAK in NYC. "Bradley was dancing and drinking like crazy," an eyewitness tells Life & Style. "Nearby, Scarlett and Justin were talking to each other all night like old friends."

Definitely enjoying his bachelor status, Bradley kept close company with newly single Olivia Wilde in May and chose recently divorced J.Lo as his dinner companion at Per Se in NYC on Sept. 10. Reports suggested a budding romance between the two, but with Bradley's recent behavior, it seems the actor's in no rush to settle down.

Bradley split from his girlfriend of two years, Renée Zellweger, in March, while Scarlett split with husband Ryan Reynolds in December. They'd been married for more than two years.

Jon Stewart Compares 'Daily Show' to Fox News: 'We're Both Expressions of Dissatisfaction'

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Jon Stewart talks about his disappointment in Obama, political satire in the post-Bush era and how the 24/7 media is corroding the national debate. "[The 24-hour networks] are now the absolute most powerful force driving the political narrative," he says. "And the picture that they create is one of conflict, because they're on for 24 hours a day, so they have to create a compelling reason for you to watch them. Otherwise, they're just Muzak - newzak."

Other highlights from the story:

• Stewart says that the Daily Show has a lot in common with Fox News. "We are both reactions to the news and to government," he says. "We're both expressions of dissatisfaction. [Roger Ailes'], I think, happens to be a slightly more powerful version [laughs.] . . . . Ailes was a strategist for Nixon. He comes from the seat of power, and he understands how important the narrative is. We come from comedy, so our natural instinct is not to understand that, and to be bratty. That goes a long way towards explaining the difference between the two organizations."

• Obama has been a disappointment to Stewart. "He ran on this idea that the system and the methodology are corrupt," he says. "It felt like the country was upset enough that he had the momentum needed to re-evaluate how business is done. Instead, when he got elected, he acted as though the system is so entrenched that it has to be managed rather than - I don't want to say decimated, because I'm not an anarchist or a nihilist. But I'm surprised at how much he deferred to the legislative process."

• Bruce Springsteen remains one of Stewart's heroes. "When I listened to his music I didn't feel like a loser," he says. "I felt like a character in an epic poem about losers...Plus, you would go see his show and he would blow your fucking mind for four hours. At a certain point, you'd want to go up onstage and be like, 'Guys! It's OK. I got my money's worth, like, two and a half hours ago. Save yourself! I don't want you to burn out,. You're giving too much! We do not deserve what you've done here tonight! A lot of us are jackasses!"

After a year back together, Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriguez have ended their romance. "They broke up recently," a source close to Rodriguez confirms to Us Weekly.

The duo's low-profile love was marked by beach getaways and intense workouts together. So what got in the way? Their work ethic!

"She's very busy with her career," the source says of Diaz. "And he's had injuries and wants to focus on his game. They're dedicated professionals."

Accordingly, don't expect any drama in the wake of their split. "They're still very friendly and like each other," the source says.
