 | | Lindsay Lohan Charged with DUI | | | |
Troubled beauty Lindsay Lohan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday morning, after a long night of clubbing in Los Angeles.
The actress, who turns 21 on July 2, sustained injuries in her lower chest when her black Mercedes convertible struck a curb on Sunset Boulevard at about 5:30 a.m., police said. Two other people were in the car and all three left the scene of the accident shortly after it happened, according to Lt. Mitch McCann of the Beverly Hills police. No one else was hurt and no other cars were involved reports US Magazine.
At the press conference McCann said: "A usable amount of an illegal narcotic tentatively identified as cocaine was recovered and booked." Police would not specify where the drugs were found.
"Due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot reveal what her Blood Alcohol Content was, nor can we reveal if there were narcotics in her blood stream at the time of the accident," McCann told reporters on Saturday.
"She was charged with a misdemeanor," said McCann. "There is a potential for additional charges."
Police learned of the accident when they received a 911 call at 5:30 a.m. By the time authorities responded, three minutes after the call, Lohan, her companions and the car were gone from the scene.
