Nick Lachey to Play 'Newlywed' in TV Pilot
Actor-singer Nick Lachey, whose separation from Jessica Simpson was confirmed last week after months of tabloid speculation, will play a newly wed in a pilot for the WB reports MTVnews

The untitled project will be developed by Danny Jacobson, the co-creator and executive producer of "Mad About You," who described it as a "romantic comedy under a microscope."

Lachey is set to play a baseball star navigating a new marriage in a pilot for the WB network, spokesman Paul McGuire said Monday.

Lachey, the former star of MTV's "Newlyweds" is no stranger to the WB, having logged multiple guest shots last season on the network's drama series "Charmed."

"Nick is a huge talent with a major following and Danny is a brilliant, seasoned comedy writer," McGuire said. "We hope it's a good match." Shooting of the half-hour pilot will begin in April. The show will be considered for the network's fall 2006 lineup, McGuire said.

Along with acting, Nick has spent the past year recording his second solo album reports ABCnews
