The Bible reminds us in Psalm 118:8 (NIV), "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans." This verse speaks volumes. It urges us to seek God as our refuge and strength, especially when we feel sidelined by those around us. Churches are meant to be sanctuaries of love and acceptance, not exclusive clubs with unwritten rules about who fits the mold. Jesus himself said in Matthew 9:12-13 (NIV), “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” The essence of this teaching is that we are all in need of God's mercy, and it's not our place to decide who is worthy of His love or our fellowship.
