This morning was a total clusterfuck. First, I got stuck behind some idiot crawling at two miles an hour—like seriously, why even bother driving if you can’t at least try to keep up? Then I tripped on the sidewalk, tore my damn trousers, and spilled coffee all over my shirt. Awesome start, right?

When I finally get to work...guess who was waiting with a face full of thunder? My boss. He started yelling the second I walked in—like being five minutes late was the end of the freaking world. Hell, he’s still pissed about my untucked shirt from the other day. The guy loves power-tripping, barking orders, and acting like he’s got nothing better to do than make my life miserable. Seriously, who needs that crap?

Been there, especially with the boss fiasco. I tried another angle once—I confronted my manager in private, told her exactly how her attitude was affecting me and our entire team. It was awkward, I won’t lie. She got defensive, rolled her eyes a lot, but eventually, she eased up a bit, and that was worth the cringe of the conversation. Not every jerk boss will back off, but sometimes they don’t realize how destructive they’re being ‘til you spell it out.

Sounds like your boss needs a chill pill… or possibly an entire pharmacy . I once tried giving my boss the benefit of the doubt—thought maybe he was having a bad day or dealing with something at home. Let’s just say he made it very clear that the only ‘bad day’ was the one he was personally crafting for each of us in the office . After that, I started jotting down everything he said, just in case I needed to reference it later. Didn’t help me feel better, but it sure helped me keep track of his random outbursts to send to HR. Good luck, pal!

If your boss is that hot-headed, maybe you should beat him at his own game—no, I don’t mean slap him like in that epic story Jett shared —but play it cool. Whenever I’ve dealt with that type, I’ve found that acting absolutely unbothered can mess with them. Let them do their barky-bark routine while you keep your composure. Does it solve everything? Nah, but it can keep them from escalating since they don’t get the reaction they want. Throw in some polite but firm pushback when needed and watch them short-circuit

Oh, that reminds me of the time a new girl joined my team. One day, she misfiled something—no clue what it was, but the boss went absolutely nuclear. She was already on edge, and he practically made her cry her eyes out in front of the whole place . Then, get this, another coworker of mine—who’s usually super laid-back—actually jumped in, told the boss to shut his mouth and to look at what he was doing to her. That set the boss off like you wouldn’t believe: face turning red, flipping out on both of them. It got so crazy that my coworker ended up slapping him (still can’t believe I witnessed that!), and after that mess, the girl and my coworker both quit. Total office meltdown! Sometimes, these small dudes with big attitudes think they can bulldoze everyone.
