You know what really annoys me? People who can't seem to talk about anything other than their work. Like, honestly, is your job the only thing that defines you? Every conversation starts the same way: "So, what do you do?" And you just know they’re not asking out of genuine interest. Nope, they’re just waiting for their turn to launch into a monologue about their oh-so-important career. Give me a break!

I swear, it feels like a competition sometimes. They can’t wait to tell you how being a doctor or an engineer is so demanding yet rewarding. Great. Good for you. But does that mean you can’t talk about anything else? Hobbies? Passions? Heck, even your favorite Netflix show? Anything but work, please!

I’m tired of nodding along, pretending to care about the intricacies of someone’s 9-to-5 just so they feel validated. They probably didn’t even listen when I answered their initial question. They’re too busy rehearsing their own script in their head.

Why can't we just enjoy a good conversation without it turning into a contest of who has the more prestigious job? Maybe it's just me, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are we losing the art of conversation to this middle-class snooty world we now live in? Let me know what you think!
