Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill Friday that means that if you know you have HIV and give it to someone without telling them you will not face felony charges, instead it will be considered as a misdemeanour instead. If you give blood without telling the blood bank you they are HIV-positive and in doing so infect loads of people you will also get away with it :/.
It has been estimated that over 36.7 million people are currently living with HIV worldwide. With a total of 2.1 million people infected every year, and over 1.1 million die each year of HIV-related causes..but these facts have not stopped the liberals!
State Sen. Scott Wiener author of the bill said “Today California took a major step toward treating HIV as a public health issue, instead of treating people living with HIV as criminals,”
Barbara Lee tweeted her delight at the new bill:

However, opposition to the bill have argued that it will put people at risk. Republican Sen. Joel Anderson of Alpine who voted against the bill said during the floor debate “I’m of the mind that if you purposefully inflict another with a disease that alters their lifestyle the rest of their life, puts them on a regimen of medications to maintain any kind of normalcy, it should be a felony,” also adding “It’s absolutely crazy to me that we should go light on this.”
In the past people with HIV who have not accepted their illness have infected others deliberately! On the same day that the bill was past a news story broke in the New york post about a man tampering with condoms to infect partners with the disease.
