Johnny Depp jokes about assassinating Donald Trump

At a Q&A at the Glastonbury music festival Johnny Depp suggested that he wanted to kill Donald Trump.

Speaking to the crowd at the Q&A for the screening of his new movie The Libertine, Johnny Depp asked the crowd “Can we bring Trump here?”. The crowd then booed furiously, then Depp replied  “No, no, no, you’ve misunderstood completely.
“I think Trump needs help,” adding “There are a lot of dark places he could go.”
“I’m not insinuating anything – by the way, this will be in the press and it will be horrible – but when was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” Depp said.
Depps comments were met with huge cheers from the mainly liberal crowd.

Johnnys Depps comments about assassinating Donald Trump come just days after a “left wing” extremist tried assassinating  republican lawmakers practicing for the congressional baseball game in Simpson Park in Alexandria, which left House Majority Whip Steve Scalise with gunshot wounds and needing surgery.

The Whitehouse has reacted to Depp’s comments by releasing a statement saying “President Trump has condemned violence in all forms and it’s sad that others like Johnny Depp have not followed his lead.”.

Johnny Depp has since apologised for his “bad joke” by telling people magazine “It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice. I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone,”.

In my opinion Johnny Depp should never have even joked about harming killing the president not only does Depps comments alienate the millions of people who voted for Trump Depp has a huge amount of influence as a movie icon and many may think it is “acceptable” to kill the president if people like Depp make jokes about it.
