Hogwarts Legacy? More like Hogwarts Tragedy. This game is a complete disaster. As a fan of J.K. Rowling, I was excited to dive into an open-world action RPG set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter. But let me tell you, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment.
Hogwarts Legacy is a game full of empty promises. They claimed an open world, but all I found was a rigid and lifeless Hogwarts castle. The developers seem to have put more effort into pushing their liberal and trans agendas than they did on actual gameplay. It’s almost as though the game was just made purely to spite J.K. Rowling for her views on trans issues by shitting all over her creation.
The character creation process is a complete and utter joke. You’re given so many options to make your character look like a complete and utter freak. And if you’re creating a male character? Well, get ready to make him look as gay as possible. You can also make him a witch…
As for the actual gameplay, well, this open world game is supposed to be a magical experience, but I found it extremely rigid and dull. The tedious opening mission drags on for far too long, leaving you begging for the sweet release of actually getting into Hogwarts. And once you finally arrive, what do you find? A castle full of lifeless robots pretending to be students, that don’t even react when you jump on top of them. It’s like you’re wandering around a museum exhibit, with the students and furniture frozen in time.
And don’t even get me started on the so-called “characters” you can speak to. They’re about as interesting as a toothpick. And who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to add in a girl from Uganda who just drones on and on about immigration? Boring, boring, boring.
I joined Slytherin, hoping to live out my evil wizarding dreams, but despite the promise of being able to be the wizard you want to be… your not allowed to be evil, zap people with a spell or even disagree with people for that matter when they are droning on about immigration.
This game is set in a different time period than the books, meaning there are no familiar faces to be found. It’s like the Harry Potter feel has been sucked right out of it and replaced with a poor imitation.
I managed to endure two lessons before the utter boredom of this game forced me to turn it off.
Overall, Hogwarts Legacy is a huge letdown. It’s a shame, really, because the concept of an open-world action RPG set in the wizarding world has so much potential. But the developers just didn’t pull it off.
Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this game. It’s like a dementor sucking out all the joy and magic from the Harry Potter universe. Stick to the books, people. Stick to the books.
