Avengers Infinity War a movie that was apparently the second most expensive movie of all time to make with an estimated cost of $300 million has surpassed all expectations and has racked up $2billion worldwide at the box office!
Only three other movies ever have grossed over $2billion including Avatar, Titanic and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The movie unites 22 superheroes from previous Marvel films, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), to fight against a super-villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) in an epic battle to save the universe that has thrilled audiences worldwide.
However, not everyone is a fan of the new Marvel films. Back in April James Cameron, the director of both Avatar and Titanic, complained about how Marvel’s films were dominating the box office and pushing out other movies.
“I’m hoping we’ll start getting ‘Avenger’ fatigue here pretty soon,” Cameron told IndieWire. “Not that I don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on guys, there are other stories to tell besides hyper-gonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process. It’s like, oy!”
Unfortuanlty for Cameron it looks as though Marvel movies are here to stay. A sequel to Avengers Infinity War is set to be released in May 2019.
“hyper-gonadal males” James Cameron sounds like a jerk…
