The organization is dedicated to helping boys and girls transform into men and women through programs that teach the importance of decision making, health, education, and active living. The auctions include Matthew’s custom-made orange-and-white bike (suggested retail price: $40,000), a chance to meet Matthew at the Surfer, Dude Premiere, tickets for two to a college football game in Austin, TX, and other autographed collectibles — including headshots, “If you want ‘em!” the actor quips. With only three days left to go, bidding for the bike has only reached $8,588. Click here to be directed to the auction.

On May 19th, at The Tribeca Rock Club (New York), Jesus H. Christ will perform all original songs from their highly anticipated upcoming first album which they say will secure their places as the "Godparents" of "Agno" or "Agnostic" Rock, including songs about ambivalence, being bi-coastal, ennui in Connecticut, insecurity, being horny for a widower, and girls who prey on boyfriends for their literary and musical references.
"Jesus H. Christ" the name is a time-honored exclamation of frustration or vexation. It's not meant to be either religious or blasphemous.
The four piece band includes guitarist Joel Shelton, singer Risa Mickenberg, bass guitarist Will Shelton, and drummer Ray Grappone. Jesus H. Christ is backed by a bad-assed Hawaii 5-0-ish 4 piece brass section: Wayne DuMaine, Tim Schadt, on trumpet, Mike Boschen and Chris Olness on trombone: The Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse.

Once upon a time there was The Gates |

Artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude told about 100 delegates from around the world who toured The Gates in Central Park that they want people to think of their projects as a once-in-a-lifetime experience reports Houston Chronicle.
"We love these words: Once upon a time there was The Gates in Central Park. Once in a lifetime and never again," Jeanne-Claude said at a reception Thursday for delegates at the Boathouse in Central Park.
The 16-day public art installation, which ends Feb. 27, features 7,500 gates of saffron-colored fabric swaying in the breeze along 23 miles of the park's footpaths.
Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who spent 27 years getting permission for their project and who have shelled out upwards of $21 million to erect the arches for a 16-day Central Park season, claim there is absolutely no point to The Gates - no message, no moral imperative, no statement, nothing. umm OK.
Jeff Jarvis - buzzmachine.com puts The Gates in prospective - "Call me a cynic. Call me a philistine. You've called me worse. But I don't get The Gates."
I think it is cool to just have 21 million dollars for art and the patience to wait 27 years everything else is a blur, this is what they wanted right, "The Gates - no message, no moral imperative, no statement, nothing. "
PS. a good friend told me that if I had a helicopter I might be able to appreciate The Gates, I hear its really pretty looking down.
