Rihanna dares to change it all
Good Girl Gone Bad, also describes the 2007 makeover that amped up her sex appeal. Even though “The Rihanna” cut made her famous, she keeps changing it up. Ursula Stephen, the singer’s go-to hair guru, says 20-year-old Rihanna “knows how to make a statement.” And the star herself admits, “I hate sticking with the same look.”
2. Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer’s confidence allows her to mix it up
“I am confident,” says Jennifer Lopez. “It doesn’t mean I don’t have my moments, but you have to remember the value of your individuality.” It’s understandable how J. Lo, 39, can pull off a Bronx bombshell vibe one day and Hollywood glitz the next. Case in point: Her stylist, Juan Carlos Maciques at the Rita Hazan Salon in NYC, told In Touch that she wanted a new look every day for a recent event-filled week.
3. Katie Holmes
Katie keeps getting braver
In June 2007, when Katie Holmes dramatically chopped her long hair, fans fell in love with the sassy style that perfectly suited her transformation from TV cutie to Mrs. Tom Cruise. But the change seems to have emboldened Katie, 29, to keep going back for more. “She cut it in stages and now has the courage to just go for it!” says NYC salon owner Patrick Melville. Lately, she’s been pairing her cut with bold makeup, too.
4. Victoria Beckham
Victoria stays one step ahead
You know you’re “major” when a hairstyle is named after you. Victoria Beckham’s asymmetrical “Pob” sent women flocking to their stylists for cuts just like hers. So what’s a trendsetter to do? Change things up again, which is exactly what the 34-year-old did when she debuted her new pixie cut in September. “It was clear that we had to create a new look that embraced her beauty,” says stylist Garren, who gave her the ’do.
5. Taylor Momsen
Taylor tries out new looks as she grows up
As Taylor Momsen’s Gossip Girl character, Jenny Humphrey, goes from a sweet girl next door to a total troublemaker, Taylor’s real-life appearance is changing, too. “I am definitely influenced by Joan Jett and the ’70s,” Taylor, 15, tells In Touch about her new edgy look. Celeb stylist Byron Williams of the Byron Williams salon in LA says, “The change is normal because Taylor is growing up and experimenting with new things to figure out what works best for her.”
6. Tyra Banks
Tyra is never afraid to make a statement
Tyra Banks loves to be the center of attention, so it’s no wonder the former supermodel, 34, keeps breaking out the eye-catching looks! “She’s always made a statement with her talk show, so her dramatic styles really reflect her big personality,” her hairstylist, Kiyah Wright of the Warren-Tricomi salon in LA, tells In Touch. “She’s not afraid to jump outside the box and will do anything a look requires.”
7. Christina Aguilera
Christina’s look changes with every new album
“I love experimenting with lots of makeup, different looks and hairstyles … the things that I do with each album to change my image,” Christina Aguilera told In Touch at her recent Inspire fragrance launch. From “Dirrty” girl to “Beautiful,” to her latest album, Back to Basics, Christina, 27, is no stranger to reinvention. “She uses makeup as a tool and a form of expression,” Kristofer Buckle, Christina’s makeup artist, tells In Touch. “She likes when her style says something. Natural isn’t interesting.”
8. Heidi Klum
Heidi designs a different look for every day
As the host of TV’s most stylish show, Project Runway’s Heidi Klum takes every detail of her image seriously and is constantly creating new looks to keep herself and the viewers interested. “I always make an effort,” she tells In Touch. “If I was on television all the time and looked the same, I would be bored of myself!” Even after 16 years in the beauty business, the 35-year-old Victoria’s Secret model still gets excited about dressing up. “I always try to mix it up and do fun things,” she says.
9. Leighton Meester
Leighton goes from sweet to sexy overnight
She plays a high schooler on Gossip Girl, but 22-year-old Leighton Meester knows how to swap her innocent image for a more mature style. “She can opt for minimum makeup and soft curls for a natural vibe or vamp it up,” says Dell Ashley, makeup artist for Yves Saint Laurent.
Beyoncé has a team of stylists to help her transform
Beyoncé admits she pulls out all the stops when she’s performing, rocking as many as five different hairstyles in one night. “I’m always so glammed up and so diva onstage!” says the singer, 27, who has a team of style experts to carefully plan her entire look right down to the color of her eye shadow. “Her makeup is always appropriate, and she’s into her hair,” confirms mom Tina Knowles.
