Nicole Richie denies gastric bypass surgery

Super Skinny Nicole Richie is denying speculation that she underwent gastric bypass surgery and then had the operation reversed reports People Magazine

The 'Simple Life' star's weight dropped dramatically in the last year but
she has recently started to look healthier and she insists her new fuller
figure is the result of seeking advice from medical experts.

Rumors began spreading this week after the New York Post ran this blind item

WHICH young Hollywood starlet had secret gastric bypass surgery, but then lost too much weight? During a recent four-day stint at a health clinic, she was actually having an operation to remove the bypass.

On Nicole Richie's Myspace blog, she wrote, "So I gain a little bit of weight, and I'm accused of having a gastric bypass surgery reversed? It's pathetic of Page Six to insinuate I have done this. Anyone that knows anything about this surgery would know that legally, you must be AT LEAST 100 pounds overweight to even have the surgery done, and is a serious, life changing procedure; not one to throw around as a joke or a rumor."

She added, "I've given a statement I am in the process of putting on weight, and that should be enough. It's a shame to hear that instead of hearing supportive words, someone needs to spin it into some negative, absurd way."

The Simple Life star's rep says that reports linking Richie to the blind item are "ridiculous."

At her thinnest Nicole allegedly weighed just 90 lbs, which medical experts
said was dangerously unhealthy for her 5ft 2ins frame.
The brunette, the adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie, checked into the
Beau Monde treatment centre in October to seek help gaining weight, but
checked out 72 hours.
After she had left the facility Nicole was seen partying at Hollywood
nightclub Hyde with 'Mean Girls' star Lindsay Lohan.
It was alleged Nicole collapsed at the club and was carried out by friends
through the back door.
Nicole has always denied that she has an eating disorder and insisted she
entered the $80,000-a-month centre in Newport Beach to undergo tests to find
out why she couldn't out on weight.
A spokeswomen said at the time: "Nicole has decided to undergo diagnostic
treatment to determine why she's not been putting on any weight."

"It is not Nicole," her publicist tells PEOPLE. "There are a ton of 'Hollywood starlets.'"
