Roger Moore has warned James Bond fans to give new 007 Daniel Craig a
chance.
The legendary star - who played the dashing spy in seven movies - says he
can't understand why Craig is being lambasted for being a bad Bond when
nobody has seen 'Casino Royale' yet.
He said: "He is a really good actor.
"So why attack him?"
Moore's plea follows, Ex-James Bond Star Pierce Brosnan who joined former Bond villain Christopher Lee to defend Daniel Craig whose choice as the new 007 is attracting growing criticism.
Former Bond villain Lee said Craig, had already been "condemned" by the media.
"People should not pass judgment until they have seen the film," said Lee. 'I think Daniel is a very fine actor,' he said.
'I got stitched up and sewn up a few times, it just didn't get in the papers,' Pierce Brosnan confessed at the UK premiere of his new film 'The Matador' in London.
'These are rocky waters, but I think he will have the last laugh,' Brosnan said of his successor.
'You get twisted some way or another if you throw yourself into it. There's going to be mishaps,' added the 52-year-old star.
A group disgruntled 007 enthusiasts asked people to
log on to website www.craignotbond.com and voice their displeasure at the
decision to replace Pierce Brosnan with the hunky British star.
A statement on the site reads: "EON Productions angered fans around the
world when they fired Pierce Brosnan at the height of his popularity.
"To add insult to injury, EON cast a short, blond, odd-looking Daniel Craig
in the role of Bond. Craig is a terrible choice for Bond."
It added: "If EON Productions and Sony Pictures will not accept they've made
a big mistake, then Bond fans promise to boycott 'Casino Royale!'"
However, 72-year-old Moore suggested the group could be organising a boycott
just to draw attention to their website.
