Howard Stern's first day

Howard Stern's first day

Radio star Howard Stern kicked off his first day on Sirius satellite radio with five hours of steamy language that would normally be bleeped out on mainstream radio reports Reuters.

After dealing with about 20 minutes of technical glitches that forced him to play music for the first time in years, Stern hit his stride touching on topics from his purported marriage to the war in Iraq reports USATODAY
Though technically uncensored, Stern used little profanity. However, he didn't shy away from X-rated material peppered with bad language, and his staffers frequently cursed. From 6-10 a.m., USATODAY counted approximately 172 swear words.

About 80 minutes into the program, the shock jock announced that he and his longtime girlfriend, model Beth Ostrosky, had tied the knot during their vacation in Mexico, the Associated Press reports.

Within 90 minutes, however, the newsflash was revealed as a prank. After all, Stern has vowed never to marry again, he reminded cohost Robin Quivers reports People Magazine/.

The marriage announcement, he said, was a big, fat scam, in response to a false item in the New York Post about the supposed nuptials.

Stern also talked up shocking revelations about himself and his crew - the tamest of which involved one of them getting caught cheating on his wife and another's cosmetic surgery. But the answers to who did what won't be revealed until next Monday reports Seattle Times.

One welcome surprise was the addition of George Takei from the original "Star Trek" to the Stern family as the new announcer. Takei had been a listener favorite and the target of an infamous prank call on the old show. Today, the 68-year-old actor, recently out of the closet, proved great fodder as Stern and crew - not surprisingly - probed him explicitly about his sexual history and preferences.
