You really know you’re a star when the backlash is in full swing. Considering the fact that some Hollywood insiders are throwing a “star-studded�? "We Hate Paris Hilton" party, Paris must be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

Rumored to be attending the bash at the end of the month are Hilton haters Nicole Richie, Mary-Kate Olsen and Bijou Phillips, reports the UK website Digital Spy. “Guests have been encouraged to dress as the hotel heiress, perform her song ‘Screwed’ and vote on her most cringeworthy moment of the year,�? says the site.

Not everyone is getting a kick out of the idea, though. An insider told British newspaper, the Daily Star, "You can't help feeling a bit sorry for poor old Paris. They are even considering filming the party and putting clips of it on the Internet."

Still, you can’t help but think the airhead heiress deserves some of the jibes. Over the last year Paris lost her Sidekick, causing many celebs to have to get their cell phone numbers changed. She broke the heart of Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis. She ditched her “beloved�? Tinkerbell for cuter, younger pets. She stole Mary-Kate’s boyfriend Stavros Niarchos. She was named PETA’s worst dressed female and she was voted the worst celebrity dog owner. As Jessica Simpson says, “Karma’s a bitch.�?

2005 was a great year for irreconcilable differences, with a little fraud thrown in for good measure. With 11 days to go in the year, we don’t want to jump the gun and claim we’ve got the definitive list of 2005 celebrity relationship bust-ups. But it does seem appropriate to give some additional recognition to those stars who, by their refusal to work out their problems together, keep wagging tongues on the move.

Brad and Jenn, of course, caused the earthquake that destabilized everybody else’s relationships. “If they can do it, without seeing their per-movie fee go down, then we can too!�? seemed to be the philosophy. Like dominos falling, Denise and Charlie, Renee and Kenny, Chris Klein and Katie Holmes, Eddie Murphy and Nicole, Paris and several Greeks, Tori Spelling and Charlie Shanian, and Nicole Richie and DJ AM all have traveled along the bitter highway to Splitsville.

By the time Jessica and Nick announced right before Thanksgiving, their marriage had become such a joke that gossips were reduced to saying that Jessica was pregnant (by some guy other than Nick). Reports that Jessica watched “Rosemary’s Baby�? and then, believing it was Nick who impregnated her, had an abortion, are completely unfounded, as is speculation that Nick has a little “Brokeback�? thing going on. The gossip world is electric with the news of how the families of Paris Latsis and Stavros Niarchos continue to have their propriety and international social standing jolted by their scions’ romantic entanglements with Paris Hilton. Malicious wagging tongues say that the families look down their noses at Paris because she never studied Greek, but both Latsis and Stavros have protested that: “She does Greek with me!�?

Gossipers must understand where the Greek shipping magnates are coming from. The Hiltons have wide recognition and respect, and with their fortune estimated at $300 million, they clearly will not starve in the street, not even if the street is the Champs-Elysees.

However, the Niarchos fortune is estimated at $4 billion, which not only could pay for a few weeks of the war in Iraq, but also engenders in the Niarchos the thought that a family with only $300 mil is basest canaille. It’s a classic, other-side-of-the-tracks love story, and The Bosh is siding firmly with that poor gal, Paris Hilton.
