The actress, who plays Marissa Cooper in popular teen drama 'The O.C.', has
allegedly called time on the pair's romance after the Whitestarr rocker
complained she was partying too much.
According to Britain's Daily Star newspaper, Barton, 20, was less than
impressed when Adler, 26, told her he was unhappy with the amount of time
she was spending with close friend Nicole Richie and dumped him.
Lord only knows why, but Mischa Barton has been struggling to save her relationship with scruffy Whitestarr frontman, Cisco Adler. The couple recently broke up, but as newly-surfaced pictures can attest, they spent some time together in the week leading up to the Oscars. Sources claim the reunion was a rocky one, however, and Mischa wound up seeking comfort in the arms of another young Hollywood scenester, Jake Gyllenhaal.
Mischa and Jake met up last month in London while attending the BAFTA awards. During their meeting, Mischa scored Jake’s phone number. A witness to the digit-swapping told Australian magazine, Dolly, “They swapped numbers and when he walked away [Mischa] did a little victory dance to her friend."
Looks like Jake’s phone number came in handy. An insider told British tabloid The Daily Star about Mischa’s recent tiff with Cisco: "Mischa had enjoyed a great weekend with Cisco at lost of pre-Oscars parties. At the time she looked like a love-sick puppy but Cisco looked uncomfortable. A few days later they were having coffee at the Beverly Hills Hotel when Cisco suddenly skulked off - and Mischa looked gutted. When Cisco didn't come back, she made arrangements to meet Jake."
Mischa should stick with Jake, if you ask us. He’s a certainly a step up from Cisco. Mischa will have to start roughing it if she and Jake are going to last, though. Gyllenhaal is more fond of taking his dogs for a walk through Runyon Canyon than going for a day of shopping at Chanel.
No one has more enemies than Paris Hilton it seems. The heiress is currently tangled up in a slander lawsuit with another socialite, Zeta Graff. Then there’s here ongoing feud with former best bud, Nicole Richie. Her latest tiff was with Mischa Barton of “The OC� who called her a “silly bitch� in an interview. We thought their brawl had boiled over, but we recently heard an interesting end to the tale.
Reports Australia’s Dolly, Mischa and Paris were sparring at last month’s BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards) in London. Mischa’s then boyfriend, Cisco Adler played her knight in shining armor by ending the altercation. “Butt out and get a job,� he told Paris. When asked about the fight later, Adler - who was once engaged to Paris’s friend, Kimberly Stewart - said, “Has Paris nothing better to do than party and row with people? At least Mischa has a job - she's a respected actress."
And Mischa’s not the only Hollywood woman who’s been irking Paris. Pamela Anderson has gotten on Hilton’s bad side after Anderson’s pet organization, PETA pulled a prank on her. During last month’s London fashion week, Paris and designer Julien Macdonald were doused in flour by PETA activists. The animal rights group targeted Paris for her participation in Macdonald’s show, even though she did not wear any of his fur pieces. Dolly reports that Paris told a friend that, through her connections with PETA, "Pam could have stopped [the attack]. I thought we were friends," she lamented. Paris and Pamela have been seen shopping together in the past and are believed to have become friends through celebrity photographer David LaChapelle.
Mischa Barton is a single gal again. The actress has split with her boyfriend Cisco Adler, frontman of Whitestarr. The cuddly couple spent the last few months jet-setting to places like Aspen and Maui, but perhaps all the traveling proved to be too much for their relationship to handle.
Mischa seems as though she doesn’t quite know how to deal with her newly-single status. One minute she’s gallivanting around town with a handful of different men and the next she’s sulking on the set of a photoshoot. But since the gallivanting is more interesting than the sulking, let’s get to that first.
According to Page Six, Barton met up with desirable Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal in London. But there was heat when she and another fella visited Hollywood’s hook-up headquarters, Chateau Marmont last week. A spy for Perez Hilton said, "Mischa and some unidentified man…spent a while inside having drinks and talking intimately, flirting heavily. You could tell it was a date and they weren't just friends. After a while inside, the two went out and had a very romantic dinner on the patio." And Jake and unidentified male aren’t the only men Mischa’s been after. Page Six says she also “hooked up with Harry Morton, the handsome heir to the Hard Rock casino empire� at the MAGIC fashion trade show.
Still Mischa’s appetite for the guys hasn’t kept her from feeling blue about her break up. While at the Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica for an Italian Vogue photo shoot, a spy for E!’s Ted Casablanca caught Mischa in a moment of sadness. "When she isn't posing she looks so somber,� the witness said of Barton’s mood at the shoot. “She turns it on for the cameras, but when they aren't shooting, she just drinks her Red Bull and looks kind of glum." You know what they say: breaking up is hard to do.
Of course we can’t feel too bad for Misch. She’ll likely be completely over Cisco in mere weeks. After all, when you’re dating Kimberly Stewart’s leftovers, you have nowhere to go but up.
