JAMES FRANCO DIRECTING FILM ADAPTATION OF AMERICAN TABLOID
Actor JAMES FRANCO has signed on to direct and star in a film version of JAMES ELLROY's thriller AMERICAN TABLOID.
The 127 Hours star reveals he is working on adapting the project for the big screen, although it is still in the very early stages of pre-production.
He tells MTV.com, "It's not all put together yet. It's still early. You're getting the scoop."
Ellroy's crime novel, about three rogue law enforcement officials who become entangled in the assassination of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, became a hit upon its release in 1995, and was named that year's Best Book (Fiction) by Time magazine editors.
American Tabloid is the first in a trilogy by the author - The Cold Six Thousand and Blood's a Rover followed in 2001 and 2009, respectively.
