JESSICA SIMPSON VISITS A FATTENING HUT
Jessica Simpson, who regularly comes under attack for her weight, bravely visited a fattening hut in Uganda while recently shooting scenes for her upcoming VH1 reality series, The Price of Beauty. “In Uganda, fat is beautiful,” Jess’ dad, Joe Simpson, told Life & Style at the Oct. 2 Operation Smile gala. In the hut, brides-to-be are forced to put on weight for their weddings. “Jessica was with a girl who’d been in a hut preparing for her wedding by being on a 5,000-calorie-a-day diet for two months and 25 days.”
Joe, who joined Jessica on the trip, hopes the experience will help his daughter, 29, feel better about her own looks. “Who you are inside is the message of our show,” he said. “She’s always scrutinized by the world. The hardest thing for me as a parent is to say, ‘That’s not who my child is. You don’t know the girl — and she’s the same girl she’s always been.’ Beauty starts from within.”
