Despite her recent announcement that she will not return to her long-held position at the American Idol judges desk, Paula Abdul’s best friend says there is still hope that she will be back for the show’s ninth season. “I would say that the Idol thing is not dead in the water yet. I think it’s very possible,” radio DJ Rich Berra told In Touch at the Johnjay & Rich/Jonas Brothers “Christmas Wish” Kickball Game in LA on August 11, when asked if his pal could take back her former position. Rich agreed with Paula’s many fans that the Fox hit needs the quirky singer in its ranks. “She is really, truly the people's princess. That show is not the same without her!” he added. After intense salary negotiations, Paula declared her departure from the program on August 4. "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to 'Idol,'" the singer said on her official Twitter page. "I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day one become an international phenomenon.”
