Kelis and Nas have named their son Knight.

The estranged couple – who are currently in the middle of an acrimonious divorce – welcomed their first child into the world on Tuesday (21.07.09), with Nas posting a clip on video sharing website YouTube to announce the new arrival.

Nas said in the excerpt: “My son is born today, so shout-out to my son, Knight.”

Kelis missed a New York court appearance relating to the divorce when she went into labour on Tuesday and it is believed Nas was not allowed to be present at the birth.

New reports suggest the 35-year-old rapper did attempt to visit Kelis in hospital, but was barred from entering as he was drunk.
