Nicollette Sheridan’s boyfriend has been convicted of receiving stolen
horses.
Steven Pate, who recently started dating the former ‘Desperate Housewives’
star, served six days in jail after he admitted to buying stolen equines
which were bred to be ridden by rodeo studs in competition.
The mare and three geldings in question disappeared from their Californian
stable in September 2000.
Following the offer of a $10,000 reward for the animals safe return, Steven
came forward with information but was arrested and charged with five felony
crimes, including Grand Theft Animal.
Steven eventually pleaded no contest to a charge of receiving stolen
property. After finishing his short prison term and completing all the terms
of his probation, his conviction was reduced to a misdemeanour.
A representative for Nicollette claims Steven didn't know the horses were
stolen when he received them, and reiterated he was the person who brought
the information to attention of the authorities.
In February, Nicollette, 45, insisted she was looking for a “prince” to make
her life complete.
She said at the time: "I'm always looking for a man. But please, only
princes should talk to me."
Nicolette’s ‘Desperate Housewives’ character Edie Britt was recently killed
off from the show.
Maneater Edie was electrocuted after she crashed her car while fleeing her
on screen husband Dave Williams - played by Neal McDonough – who she
discovered was trying to murder her.
