And ever since then things haven't been the same. They aren't even D-List anymore. So why are they even bothering?

It's not like they're in any kind of demand anymore. Not that they're uglier than they used to be - they still smile pretty for the cameras, they're just more tired-looking.

I can see Vanessa being the kind of girl who'd hang on to whatever she's got until she finds a replacement. And true to type, she's been reported out canvassing the clubs for eligible donors. Unfortunately for her, she's also got a well-known reputation for being a high maintenance party girl, and at her age, it's just tiresome.

Is Nick equally as shallow? Hard to say, but you don't hear about him shopping for new arm candy - maybe he's just more discreet. Or maybe he's just complacent; he's had enough of Vanessa's tantrums and figures it's best to just not rock the boat.

Whatever the reason, these two have long exceeded their time in the spotlight, but just don't seem willing to go quietly. At least they can look forward to some desperately needed publicity when they do break it off. Maybe one of them can milk it for a few weeks and land a real job or a book deal.
