JOHN MAYER SEEKS CARE FOR HIS DAD

John Mayer took a break from Twittering on April 7 to tour several independent-living communities in LA for his father, Richard, who’s 81. “The first one they went into for a long time, and they came out with some brochures,” says an eyewitness. “They seemed to be in good spirits.” John, 31, and brothers Carl and Ben are sizing up various communities for their dad, a friend of the singer says: “They’ve been looking in LA so John can be close to him.” But the East Coast is also an option — John’s brothers live there, and John has an apartment in NYC. “No matter what side of the country John’s dad is on, he’ll be taken care of,” adds the pal. “Richard’s just getting older — there are no immediate health concerns.” After scoping out places with his dad, John returned to his Twitter account and wrote about jamming with his father that night: “Playing guitar for my dad…pulling out the jazz licks. He’s a hard one to impress.
