Isla Fisher defends her new movie

Isla Fisher has defended her new movie, insisting it is relevant in the
current economic climate.
The 33-year-old actress says people can “learn a lesson” from ‘Confessions
of a Shopaholic’ – in which she plays a journalist who gets into debt
because of her shopping addiction – saying it will teach people to control
their spending habits.
Speaking at the UK premiere of the film in London’s Leicester Square , Isla said: “Yes, I do think this film gives out a good
message. I think the message is about consumption and debt and it is
something we are all learning about at the moment. Obviously the movie was
set in a different economic period but it is a redemption story and my
character Rebecca Bloomwood learns her lesson.”
Isla’s co-star Hugh Dancy, who also attended the glitzy event, admits he has
run into trouble in the past after splashing too much cash.
The British actor added: “I have never been horribly in debt. I
have had my credit card refused many times but that is a different thing!
“The message in this movie is very simple – there are more important things
than clothes and shopping. However, this is a comedy first and foremost.”
Isla – who braved the chilly London temperatures in a stunning Jasmine di
Milo black backless mini-dress and a pair of towering black Jimmy Choo shoes
– also revealed she loved working with Hugh and fell for his “gorgeous”
eyes.
The Australian star – who has a 15-month-old daughter, Olive, with fiance
Sacha Baron Cohen – said: “Hugh did such a great job. He really grounded the
movie in reality and of course, Hugh has those gorgeous blue eyes. He did a
great job.”
