Javier Bardem fell into acting after film executives spotted him as he escorted his sister to an audition, SS reports

He says, "I didn't have any desire to act. My sister was an actress - she gave it up to have a family - and she asked me to come with her to an audition.

"I went along, and the filmmakers said to her, 'Who's that guy you're with? Can we see him?'

"I didn't want to, but I said, 'Okay'. That's how I got started, because of my sister."

He added to Red magazine, "The profession is so f**king hard. People read about the actors who work, but that's only five per cent of them.

"I'm lucky I went with my sister that day, that's for sure."
