Hayden Panettiere’s father receives two years probation
Hayden Panettiere’s father has received two years probation after pleading
no contest to misdemeanour battery charges for allegedly hitting his wife.
Alan Panettiere, 49, entered his plea at the Beverly Hills Superior Court
and was also ordered to complete 52 weeks of domestic
violence counselling and pay $400 in fines.
A protective order – which was issued in October – which told Alan not to
“harass, strike or threaten” Lesley Vogul, Hayden’s mother, remains in
place.
Alan was arrested last August on a charge of felony domestic violence after
he reportedly struck Lesley on the cheek, leaving a bruise.
The couple had been seen arguing at a Hollywood charity benefit shortly
before the incident.
After the incident, Alan and Lesley put on a display of unity with Alan
claiming the incident was simply a “misunderstanding”.
The couple said: “We love each other very much and want everyone to know
that the matter was completely blown out of proportion.”
Hayden said at the time: “It was blown way out of proportion by a sheriff
who wanted his 15 minutes of fame.”
Hayden’s representative has not commented on her father’s plea.
