escalator.
The brunette beauty was on her way to the Western Ball to celebrate US
President Barack Obama's inauguration when her flowing frock got stuck,
causing widespread "panic".
A source said: "Halle was on her way to the ball, but she was looking lost
and confused in the crowd of people. She stepped onto the escalator and the
long train of her dress got caught, causing a scene of panic.
"She began frantically screaming and security had to hit the emergency
brake."
A shaken Halle eventually managed to pull her gown free, and continued on
her way to the party.
Halle was not the only celebrity to cause an upsetting scene in Washington
D.C. on Tuesday.
Singer Usher and his wife Tameka Foster left a young fan distraught when
their bodyguard refused to allow her to get an autograph.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "The shopping mall was
practically empty, and a young girl went up and asked Usher for a photo. His
bodyguard very meanly refused, and Tameka laughed in the girl's face. After
they left, the little girl was crying."
Usher representative said: "Usher took as many photos as possible while in
Washington. He was there to witness a great moment in history. It's absurd
that people would try to ruin it."
