Jennifer Aniston's latest film Marley & Me took the number one at the box office forcing ex-hubby Brad Pitt's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button into number 2.

Both movies opened on Christmas day, putting Aniston and her infamous ex against each other at the box office. Marley & Me raked in $14.6 million across 3,480 theaters, the highest one-day total ever for a film opening on Christmas. Button came in second with $11.8 million, opening in 2,988 venues.

In the end, both films exceeded box office expectations by 40-50 percent, according to Variety
