The female version of the trophy will go to either Penelope Cruz for ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’, Kate Winslet for ‘The Reader’, Amy Adams for ‘Doubt’, Viola Davis for ‘Doubt’ or Taraji P. Henson for ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’.
Catholic school drama ‘Doubt’ – which tells the story of a nun who confronts a priest after discovering he has been sexually abusing a black student - has scooped five nominations, including honours for stars Meryl and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
