Gwyneth Paltrow has pledged to support Madonna following the singer’s split
from husband Guy Ritchie.
Madonna, 50, has been keeping in touch with Gwyneth through a series of long
distance phone calls while she is on her ‘Sticky and Sweet’ world tour.
Speaking at the premiere of her new film ‘Two Lovers’ in London, Gwyneth said: “I speak to Madonna a lot. She’s a dear friend.
I’m supporting her in all ways that I can. I’m here on the other end of the
phone.”
It has been claimed Madonna consulted Gwyneth, 36, before the split, and the
‘Iron Man’ actress was desperate for her to change her mind.
A source said recently: "Gwyneth begged Madonna all summer not to let the
marriage fall apart. No one tried harder than Gwyneth to convince them to
stick together. But Madonna has always been her own women and in the end
made her own decision."
Trudie Styler - who introduced Madonna to Guy at a dinner party in 1999 -
has also broken her silence about the break-up, and remains hopeful that the
pair can still sort out their differences.
She said: “I love them both. They're both dear friends of mine and all good
things sometimes come to an end. Obviously they've been struggling for a
while. I think they're destined to become great pals.”
Trudie, the wife of pop singer Sting, is godmother to Guy and Madonna’s
eldest son Rocco, eight. She was also an executive producer on Guy's films
‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ and ‘Snatch’.
