Those in the know knew it wouldn't last forever. The only thing they had in common was their careers - both of which are slipping into oblivion at roughly the same pace. Undersold concerts, tepid disc sales and general lack of public interest have been tough to acknowledge. So why not seek comfort in each other's arms? Could be because they're otherwise occupied.
While Avril has been hard at work touring overseas, Deryk has been knocking around the house all by his lonesome - he'd still be there alphabetizing the spice cabinet if not for his hard-partying buddies, who didn't have to twist his arm too hard to get him back out in the bars. And now that he's out, it's only to easy to revert to his old ways. And revert he has. He was recently spotted getting rather affectionate with a statuesque brunette. No comment from Avril's peeps, but it doesn't look good, especially when they've been drifting apart for a while now. Hope they've got a good pre-nup; it could be a long time (if ever) until one of them has a hit record again, and neither would seem to have any back-up career skills.
