Nicole Richie and Joel Madden stepped out together to raise money for their charity, the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation.

Richie and Madden raised $10,000 towards their goal of $35,000 to build a playground for needy children at Beyond Shelter in Los Angeles.

The money was raised through 1,825 text messages. Each person donated $5.
