Karen Whittaker of The Centre for Sapphic Studies has criticized Lindsay Lohan for her “fake” lesbian relationship with Samantha Ronson.

“Celebrities like Lindsay Lohan are merely ‘Gay for Play’ and are attempting to cash in on the faddish appeal of lesbianism without any commitment to our cause,” Whittaker says.

Fellow Sapphic Studies member Alice Hensley says Lohan and Ronson should “come out.”

“They never seem to move past the hand holding and eye gazing phase of the relationship,” Hensley says."There's no sense these two are actually in a committed relationship. If Lindsay would come out and say she's gay and in a committed relationship with Ronson, then maybe she could use her media clout for good for the first time in her life."
