Janet Jackson has quit her record label.

The ‘Together Again’ singer demanded Island Records terminate her contract
after just over a year with the company because she has grown increasingly
disillusioned by their efforts to promote her music.
Her spokesperson said: "At her request, the record label has agreed to
dissolve their working relationship. Now, more than 20 years after the
release of her iconic album ‘Control’, Janet will have autonomy over her
career, without the restrictions of a label."
Janet signed to Island Records on July 2007, releasing ‘Discipline’ - her
only album with them – in February.
