Madonna has received a supportive visit from her closest friend, Gwyneth Paltrow, Daily Mail reports.

The actress arrived at the Central Park West apartment yesterday afternoon trailed by a nanny carrying Madonna's adopted son David Banda.

Paltrow's arrival comes as the singer is being linked to the marriage break-up of Alex Rodriguez.

His wife Cynthia, 34, accuses him of having had a string of affairs.

But the 'final straw', according to her lawyers, was his association with Madonna - although they admit the relationship was not sexual.
