Lauren “Lo” Bosworth talks a lot
What do you say to people who think that the show is fake? And I’m gonna preface by saying that I defend the show all the time.
“I mean, we just reiterate over and over again that what you see on the show is real. The relationships are real. The fights are real. Everything that is on there has actually happened and is part of the relationships that people have on there. Me being friends with Lauren is not fake. Heidi and Spencer dating is not fake. People, I don’t know why they think it’s fake. Maybe in the production or what they see on TV, but they have to understand that its one of the biggest shows on MTV and they’re going to put a lot of time and money into making it the best show that they can.”
Are you friends with Heidi and Spencer?
“Us specifically? Not really. I don’t really have a relationship with them. I wouldn’t call it we’re not friends, but I wouldn’t say we’re friends either. It just kind of is.”
Speidi went out to a gun shop and bought $100,000 worth of guns because he said they needed the protection.
“I don’t know if people are after them, but realistically, a lot of people do know the show, and even where we live people come by the house all the time and it’s kind of scary. So I would understand the need to want to feel protected. I don’t know if buying $100,000 worth of guns is really necessary. If you want a gun have a gun, but I don’t know. That’s their own business.”
She [Heidi] wants to do a Christian album. Have you heard the tracks she has been releasing?
“I’ve listened to a few of them on Perez, when he puts them on there.”
What do you think about her music?
[about “Fashion”] “I like that she sings in French in this one. I think that’s kind of fancy.”
And remember you said you want to be a TV host so you have to keep it real.
“Yeah. I am keeping it real. I like that she sings in French in this one actually.”
Do I need to bring up another track? Can we go to another Heidi track? Lets play another one this is “Higher”.. Now I think this is the one on the beach.
“Oh is this the music video one? Ok, I know about this.”
Now what do you think of this one?
“You know if there wasn’t this weird situation with them I would probably be into her jams, and think they’re dance music…”
Ok is there really a beef between Heidi and Spencer and LC. This isn’t just for MTV this is the real deal, are they really, really, beefing?
“I think they are not friends, but they don’t actively try to do things to hurt each other at this point, do you know what I mean? I mean, stuff has happened, and now it’s over and everybody has moved on from that so…”
So there was a photo shoot this week, it was yesterday? Everybody was there, you were there, LC was there, Audrina, everybody but Heidi was not there. Is that a situation where she’s not invited?
“No. She came later.”
She did show up then?
“Yeah I saw the call sheet and she was on there for later in the afternoon.”
Just not with you guys. Like a separate shoot?
“I guess. I don’t know”
Do you think if they removed that [Speidi] from the show, it would hurt the show?
“I think that the people watch the show to see what’s going on with them definitely and the people who follow the show also follow the tabloid news and so they really do know what’s going on. Yeah having them not on the show would hurt the show.”
Caller: What was the whole deal with Brody and Lauren? Were they ever an official couple?
“I feel like for the time I’ve known them to like each other it’s never been an official thing. I don’t think that they’ve ever been boyfriend and girlfriend, but they definitely have dated and have liked each other.”
Caller: I’ve been watching ever since the Laguna Beach days and have never seen you in a serious relationship so I’m wondering if you are dating anyone?
“I am actually and he is from Louisville, Kentucky, where you are from.”
My sources tell me you were in Vegas not too long ago hanging out at the Hard Rock. My sources tell me you got on stage and did the “Soulja Boy” dance.
“It was the absinth. I can dance, but I can’t rap. That was so embarrassing. I woke up at 7:00 the next day to get on a flight back to LA and I had messages on my phone that were like ‘Oh my god, you did not do that!’”
Are you ever worried about that? (Reality show ruining your relationships like it did to the Hogans)
“I feel like “The Hills” is different. It’s not your family. It’s not so personal. It’s not, so detailed. I don’t know, I feel like their show gives a very.. I don’t know, you really see what their family is like. I’m trying to find the right words and I can’t.”
I understand, it goes a little bit deeper. “The Hills” films you guys going out, talking about boys, dancing, being at Goa. It’s kind of silly and fun. Whereas the cameras are in their home and they’re talking about personal stuff.
“Yeah. Them having their divorce or talking about divorce and their relationship issues is a lot more personal to bring up on a TV show than “Oh I dated this boy and he didn’t call me back”. It’s a different level. “
Which celebrity has the best and worst beach body? Lo wasn’t afraid to show her stuff in Us Magazine.
“Oh I was so nervous.”
That’s gotta be a little intimidating right?
“It was very intimidating actually because I’ve started exercising the past few months, but I’m not really where I want to be yet, so to have to do this photo shoot before I was completely comfortable was nerve wracking.”
Let me ask you this, where were you and where do you want to get to?
“Well, what do you mean where was I? I was FAT!”
I think it’s relatable to how many women? There are a lot of young women who watch your show that pay attention to those kinds of things.
“The thing is the girls on the show are sooo thin. And it’s not a competition to be as thin as them, but I think in this industry, everybody has a sense of what the ideal body is and body image. I mean health-wise, it’s important to eat healthy and exercise, but you know, it’s about being comfortable in your own skin too. And for me, in high school I was an athlete, I ran cross country, I danced. And when I got to college, it was just about drinking beer and having fun. You don’t want to go to the gym, you want to go shopping and hang out with your friends. So it was a period of very little exercise and eating crap food for me and it got to the point where I realized, if I just continue down this road, I’m going to be fat forever. And I do not want to be fat forever.”
So you, Audrina, and LC just have each other’s backs with eating right and trying to stay fit?
“Kind of. I mean, we all are just trying to eat really healthy, and its summer time too. It just makes you feel better to have food in your body that isn’t bad for you.”
This is a centerfold. You have like a double page feature. You actually have to turn the magazine right side up on page 88, and 89. You’re like Verne Troyer size. It says “fake a bikini body”. So I guess these are all tips that you gave?
“No those are all from I think the makeup artists or something from the magazine.”
Did you know that you were gonna have this centerfold situation?
“I didn’t realize it was going to be so large!”
So you’re cool with having your body like this? A lot of women would be self conscious. This is going in every supermarket in the country.
“I know that does make me a little nervous. But working on the fitness, you know?”
Is there another show that you would want to be on other than “The Hills”?
“My goodness, I haven’t really thought about it. Like a TV show to do a guest spot on?”
Anything .. because I know Audrina, she’s got new management, she just did a movie role she’s trying to expand what she does.
“Into the Blue.. I believe that’s what it’s called.”
Yea, Into the Blue. What does Lo want to do?
“Actually when I am done with “The Hills,” I am interested in doing some hosting so we’ll see if I can get a job at E! Ha!”
Oh really? What kind of hosting? Do you want to do E! News? Do you want to be on the radio?
“This kind of stuff! There are so many shows on TV right now.. fashion shows, style shows. I’d love to do something like that because being in LA and with the friends that I have, fashion is a major part of our life, and I think that shows on “The Hills” as well. You know, the girls work at People’s Revolution, fashion PR and all this stuff. So, were trying to figure out a way to bring it all together.”
We’re at E! and our sister network is the Style Network. If you could describe your perfect show what would it be?
“I really like the show “What Not to Wear,” but it’s based in New York and there’s a bunch of people on it. I think I’d be cool to do a “What Not to Wear”-esque show, but based in LA and with a younger demographic.”
That’s good though. I like the way that you’re thinking. You’re like, you know what? “The Hills” isn’t everything. I’m using this to possibly take my career to the next level because it’s not going to be around forever.
“Totally, and I am really interested in the journalistic aspect of hosting too, you know, doing E! News, but maybe even stuff that is on a different scale.”
So you’re saying you’re smart.. A step ahead of everyone else.
“You know, not all gossip you know.”
You actually want to use your brain.
“Hopefully, I’ll be able to use my brain.”
That’s good! .. One of the questions that was circulating around with the girls in the office was they were wondering where you went? .. You did Laguna Beach and you kind of were absent from “The Hills” for a while. Now you’re back full force.
“Oh well I went to college.”
Again! Brains! I love it!
“Yeah, we did season one of “Laguna” my senior year in high school and then I went to UC Santa Barbara for two years. I transferred to UCLA, and I just graduated from there in June.”
Are you the first graduate of Laguna Beach?
“Whitney graduated from USC last year .. But I think from Laguna, one of the one and only besides Whitney. Yeah.”
