Comedian George Carlin died of heart failure at the age of 71.

Carlin died at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif.
"He was a genius and I will miss him dearly," George's comedy partner Jack Burns told The Associated Press.

The Grammy Award winner had performed a week before his death at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.
