“Dancing with the Stars” professional dancer Karina Smirnoff appeared on E!’s “Chelsea Lately" to promote her new exercise DVD and talked to Chelsea Handler about her recent break-up with former ‘Dancing’ partner, Mario Lopez.
KARINA SMIRNOFF TALKS ABOUT HER RECENT BREAK-UP WITH MARIO LOPEZ
In the interview Smirnoff spoke for the first time about her split with Lopez and commented on recent reports that have surfaced about Lopez cheating on Smirnoff with former Hooters model Meaghan Cooper.
When asked by Handler how she was holding up in the wake of this news, Smirnoff choked back tears as she replied: "You know, I am okay now. I was little bit upset earlier, but there is no easy way to break up, especially when you're in the public eye it's that much harder.”
She went on to say, “But, you know, it could be worse. It could be Divine Brown [the person involved in Hugh Grant's 1995 cheating scandal]. But, again, it's not that bad."
Chelsea suggested it might be worse if he had cheated on her with another guy, to which Smirnoff replied, "Yeah, that would have been worse."
Smirnoff said she learned of the reported cheating only “a few days ago.”
