Heath Ledger’s family will attend the premiere of his last complete film The Dark Knight.

The Batman sequel – which also stars Christian Bale and Michael Caine – will be screened in New York on 14 July.

‘What happened with Heath is so sad. It’s tragic, it’s hard to believe,’ co-star Aaron Eckhart, 40, tells People.

‘I enjoyed my time with him immensely. Heath was loved by everyone on set. [He] was electric. He bought such energy to his part. It was amazing to watch.’

Heath died on 22 January aged 28.
