Heath Ledger has been branded a 'drug addict' and a 'known drug user' in a legal suit.

The £500,000 action was filed last month by a female US reporter against a top US media agency for 'damages to her professional reputation and for emotional distress' in relation to a drugs video involving Ledger.

Filed under the pseudo name of Jane Doe, the reporter is suing the agency and two of it's reporters claiming she was against being involved in the drugs sting in 2006 showing Ledger allegedly snorting cocaine as his then girlfriend and daughter slept next door.

The infamous tape in question was posted on the internet and bought by a US TV network for £100,000 but was never shown after outcry following his death from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

Doe, reportedly claims the men were offered hush money by the agency and Ledger was beside himself once he realised he was being taped but was promised it would never be shown.

"Mr Ledger became aware that he was being videotaped and became very upset," the filing said.

"He realised the two men he had been befriending all evening were paparazzi.

The two men reportedly 'gave Mr Ledger and plaintiff their word and eventually Mr Ledger calmed down.

"However, his calm state did not last for long - at least once an hour, for nearly seven hours, Mr Ledger would remember that he had been videotaped and got upset all over again.

The agency reportedly never released the tape until after his death following claims he was being exploited and warnings Ledger would sue successfully for entrapment.
