Tom Cruise wants Katie Holmes' dad to play golf with him

Martin Holmes refuses to hit the links with the 45-year-old actor, and, according to sources, Tom is trying to buy his father-in-law's friendship with a membership at the posh Bel-Air Country Club.

"Katie's father is not crazy about Tom, but Tom is really determined to win him over," a source tells Star. "Mr. Holmes golfs a lot, and now Katie is learning to play. Tom is a member at Bel-Air, and he's in the process of adding Katie to his membership so Katie can take her dad to play with her."

"Adding Katie to his membership is costing Tom $150,000 a year. That's a pretty expensive way to try to impress your father-in-law — unless you're Tom Cruise!"
