Our Government Is Drugging Deportees For Ease Of Travel

CringeWorthy

Does this fall under the Patriot Act? Lemme see ... even if the individual in question is not a terrorist, if I say he's a terrorist then we can strip him of his rights, dope him up and send him back where he came from ... right? Huh. This sounds like one of W's great ideas (or Karl Rove).

WAKE UP, AMERICA! This shit is really happening, right here in America. Today's Washington Post says our government is regularly using anti-psychotropic drugs (heavy hitters like Thorazine) on people they are deporting - against their will and without any medical precedence - on "hundreds of foreigners" being shuttled back to their home countries.

We're not talking about hardened criminals, or crazy folks who create a mess just to cause trouble, although they are the majority in these cases. WaPo found more than 250 cases where "involuntary chemical restraint" was used to incapacitate deportees. They also said that this practice has been outlawed in several countries, making intercontinental deportations more difficult.

I used to say I was proud to be an American, but this administration has done more to violate and suspend the rights of its citizens than any other I know. It's shameful that ICE officials can violate international human rights codes and people's safety by injecting massive amounts of sedative into them before shipping them back home again.
