James Blunt must undergo surgery if he wants to play again
The 'You're Beautiful' singer - who recently broke his little finger after
jumping into the crowd at a concert in Ashville, North Carolina - has been
told that doctors need to break and then reset the digit again in order for
it to function fully.
He is quoted by Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "I need it to be
right but the idea of having them take a hammer and smash my finger in two
isn't so thrilling."
Blunt, who is still able to play the guitar, recently revealed he was mobbed
by excited fans after his stage dive.
He said: "I don't know what made me do it. I jumped off stage at the end and
was chased by women, and men, in the crowd. I started running, and the next
thing I knew I had broken my finger.
"I don't even know how I did it. I can't play the piano but I can still play
the guitar with my remaining fingers! I looked down and realized my finger
was pointing the wrong way."
Blunt has decided to go ahead with planned shows in Australia, New Zealand
and Japan before undergoing surgery.
He added: "I need it fixed. I need all my fingers to work properly. Not just
for performing but for partying."
