Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell was rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped in a lift, Yahoo News reports .

The former pop star was on her way to the signing of her new book, Ugenia Lavender, when the service elevator at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex broke down.

Firefighters from Essex County Fire & Rescue Service released Halliwell after an hour and the 35-year-old arrived at the signing all smiles, dressed in a pair of skimpy leopard print shorts and a purple top.
