Pete Wentz asked Ashlee Simpson's dad Joe Simpson for permission to marry her

Ashlee Simpson's dad Joe Simpson has confirmed Pete Wentz, 28, asked him for his blessing before popping the question.


Joe said: "Pete did ask. I told him that I would be honored to have him as
part of my family."
It has also been claimed the couple - who have been dating since 2006 -
decided to tie the knot because Ashlee, 23, is pregnant.
Ashlee's representative refused to confirm the rumors, and when asked if
the star was expecting her first child, she would only reply: "Engaged."
