Pete Doherty's manager Adrian Hunter has hit back at claims that Pete is taking heroin in prison.

'In our contact with Peter since his incarceration he has been healthy, lucid and positive,' he tells Now.

'Peter is trying to carry out his sentence with dignity and should be allowed to do so without intrusion.'

A Prison Service spokesman says they will look into the claims: 'We will act on any intelligence which indicates drugs are being smuggled or abused.'

Newspapers have also printed the first photos of Pete in jail, taken on a camera phone.
