Jay-Z is set to pull out of this summer's Glastonbury music festival, it has
been claimed.
The hip-hop star - who was expected to headline the three-day music event in
Somerset, England, on June 28 - is reportedly furious he has been blamed for
tickets failing to sell out yesterday (06.04.08), with some accusing the
rapper of being an unpopular choice for the legendary festival.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "He hasn't liked all this talk of
how Glastonbury is more urban and hip this year because of his appearance.
"He feels it's a bit sad and he's being used to make a point. The straw that
broke the camel's back was when he was blamed for the lower registration for
tickets and subsequent sales."
Last year, tickets for the event sold out in a record two hours. However,
last night, fans were still able to buy the £155 weekend tickets online,
despite being on sale since 9am.
Other headliners at this year's festival - which runs from June 27 to 29 -
are Kings Of Leon and The Verve.
Festival organizers Michael Eavis - who was expected to personally introduce
Jay-Z onto the main Pyramid Stage - has insisted the rapper is still on the
bill to perform.
He said: "I spoke to his people this weekend. Everything is fine. I'm
excited."
