Follieri has been charged with one misdemeanor count of issuing a bad
cheque, and his lawyers are reportedly now handling the "issue", NYPD
spokesman Detective Martin Speechley has confirmed.
This is not the first time Follieri has been in trouble with the law.
Last year, he was sued for $55 million for allegedly using money from his
company to spend on himself and Hathaway.
The 29-year-old was also recently ordered by a Washington court to pay a
public relations firm $250,000 for work done on his behalf.
However, 25-year-old Hathaway seems to look beyond Follieri's legal
troubles, and has credited him for helping her overcome a period of
depression.
She said: "He's brought out so many positive attributes in me. Before I met
him, I wasted so much time. I was just annoying and narcissistic and smelled
bad. He's protective without being possessive, passionate without needing to
show his temper."
